It’s finally here! The Geneva International Model United Nations conference. After much anticipation, yesterday arrived, bringing with it a new and stimulating journey.
Braving the callous wind and quite miserable weather, 190 enthusiastic students waited patiently for their exciting experience to finally take place. Taking eager glances at the building in which they were about to step foot in, eagerness was growing. The Palais de Nations stood towering, radiating power and peace.
The day started off with an opening speech from GIMUN President, Giulia Rigazio. Her enthusiasm for the development of the future leaders of tomorrow prepared all participants for an intense week of debates on various world issues. Michael Möller, Acting Director General opened the floor to a multitude of questions from eager delegates, ambassadors and observers, commenting on topics such as Syria, Sustainable energy and conflict in the Central African Republic.
After the apetizer, participants then split off into their various committees to start the main meal – starting debates. Its all so exciting to see how tensions will arise and alliances will form over the next few days. Watch this space to keep up to date with all the latest news and gossip on the debates so far.
